The Wangaratta North Solar Farmis a 39MW solar project located in Wangaratta, Victoria.

The 39 MW solar farm was completed in late 2024, featuring over 900 Nextracker single-axis trackers and generates approximately 62,400 MWh of clean electricity annually - enough to power around 7,000 homes.

The project was thoughtfully designed and constructed to minimise environmental impact, with careful efforts to preserve native vegetation and avoid culturally sensitive areas.

Appointed as Principal Contractor, Tranex Power successfully delivered the project on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.

The project was energized ahead of schedule and now provides clean, reliable power to the grid. In addition, it delivered significant local economic benefits, with over 25% of the total project value reinvested into North East Victoria and a notable contribution to local job creation.

Collaborative Engineering Workshops

This project required careful design around ecological constraints, native vegetation, and culturally sensitive areas, with the final layout shaped to avoid and protect these sones. It also provided opportunities for significant civil engineering optimisation.

Given the site’s consistently wet ground conditions and poor drainage, Tranex scheduled civil works for the drier summer period to maintain productivity. Once access roads were established, the team could efficiently progress the broader works. Further optimisation was achieved on the electrical scope, particularly through redesigned trench layouts developed in collaborative engineering workshops, delivering both efficiency and cost benefits.
