The Orange Community Renewable Energy Park (OCREP) is a utility-scale renewable energy project in Orange, NSW, combining a 6.83 MWac / 11.47 MWp solar farm with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Tranex Power delivered both components under an EPC and Balance of Plant construction model, demonstrating our ability to deliver complex, multi-technology infrastructure under demanding site conditions.

The solar farm scope covered design, procurement, survey, civil works, fencing, piling, SAT mechanical installation, PV module installation, DC electrical, HV electrical and HV connection, giving Tranex end-to-end control over quality and sequencing through to grid connection.

The BESS component further showcased Tranex's ability to deliver complex infrastructure, with stringent requirements due to neighbouring properties demanding proactive stakeholder engagement, strict environmental controls and carefully managed construction activities. Delivered within a time-sensitive programme, it also represented one of Australia's first large-scale installations of Jinko Battery Energy Storage Systems, requiring close coordination between the OEM, client and commissioning teams.

Through disciplined project management and technical expertise, Tranex successfully delivered both components while maintaining programme milestones.

Early Community Engagement

Tranex Power’s early-engagement methodology enabled us to identify and plan for the project’s key risks well before construction commenced. The project also required a Works Authorisation Deed, which involved extensive consultation with local councils and stakeholders to secure approvals efficiently.

In addition, several neighbouring landowners initially opposed the project. Through a structured community-engagement approach, Tranex Power addressed concerns transparently and maintained positive progress, ensuring local support while keeping the programme on track.

The project incorporated new-to-Australia technology when integrating the BESS, requiring close technical coordination with the client to finalise interface requirements and commissioning pathways. By front-loading risk management, navigating a sensitive approvals environment, and guiding the integration of first-of-its-kind technology, Tranex Power delivered a complex project on time and on budget, turning early challenges into a controlled, predictable outcome.
